Alexandra District Health’s District Nursing Service provides professional nursing care and support services to people in their home. The service gives many options for people with short or long term illness or disability who choose to return to, or remain in their own home.
Our District Nursing Service offers advice, monitoring, and education regarding a range of health conditions with services including wound and catheter care and medication management.
Our service covers the areas of Alexandra, Eildon, Thornton, Acheron, Taggerty, Yarck, Marysville and Buxton and usually operates five days per week.
Aged Care Services (Commonwealth Home Support Program)
If you are over 65 years of age, you will be eligible for Commonwealth Home Support Program (CSHP) District Nurse service. People from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds are eligible to access Commonwealth Home Support Program services if they are 50 years of age or over.
Private services
Our DNS services are also provided to people who are eligible for Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Transport Accident Commission (TAC), Post Acute Care, Support at Home and Hospital in the Home programs.

Costs to access our District Nursing Service
A fee prescribed by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and National CHSP Client Contribution Framework applies to district nursing services. This will be discussed during the initial visit and may be waived or reduced in cases of hardship.
